Choosing and set-up
How do you help me choose and set up software?
We start with how your business runs: whether you're VAT registered, whether you run payroll, how you invoice and who will use the software. Then we recommend QuickBooks, Xero or FreeAgent.
Set-up, moving you over from your old system and training are services we provide; ask us to add them to your quote.

Making Tax Digital
Does my software need to work with Making Tax Digital?
Yes, if you're VAT registered: you must use compatible software to keep your VAT records and file your VAT returns, unless you're exempt. For Income Tax, sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000 in 2024/25 have had to use Making Tax Digital since 6 April 2026.
The threshold falls to £30,000 from 6 April 2027 and £20,000 from 6 April 2028. The software we use is compatible with Making Tax Digital, so your records are kept in the digital form HMRC asks for.

What do people ask us about accounting software?
Which accounting software do you work with?
QuickBooks, Xero and FreeAgent. QuickBooks is our preferred choice, and we're a QuickBooks Elite ProAdvisor firm.
Do I have to change the software I use now?
No, not if you already use QuickBooks, Xero or FreeAgent. If you use something else, tell us what it is when you ask for a quote and we'll talk through your options.
Is software included in your monthly price?
For four packages, yes. Our limited company, sole trader, partnership and LLP packages list cloud bookkeeping software and AI receipt capture software. For landlord and personal tax return packages, we can provide your subscription and get any discounts available, or you can pay for it yourself.
Can you move my records from spreadsheets or another system?
Yes. Moving you over from your old system is a service we provide. How much we bring across depends on your records, so we agree that with you first. Ask us to add it to your quote.
How do I send you my receipts?
We use Apron for receipt capture. You photograph the receipt with the Apron app, upload it from your computer, or send it by WhatsApp.
Do I need Making Tax Digital software?
If you're VAT registered, yes: you must use compatible software to keep your VAT records and file your VAT returns, unless you're exempt. Sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000 in 2024/25 have had to use Making Tax Digital for Income Tax since 6 April 2026.
Does cloud software replace an accountant?
No. Software keeps your records up to date, but someone still has to check them, prepare your accounts and tax returns, and answer your questions. That's what your dedicated accountant does.
Do I need to be on the Wirral?
No. We're based in Bromborough and work with clients across the UK by phone, Zoom, WhatsApp and our client app. Our office is open 9am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.
