Deadlines
What are the payroll deadlines for 2026/27?
You must send HMRC a Full Payment Submission on or before each payday, and give every employee a payslip on or before payday too. PAYE and National Insurance must reach HMRC by the 22nd of the next tax month if you pay electronically, or by the 19th if you pay by post.
A tax month runs from the 6th of one month to the 5th of the next. A Full Payment Submission (FPS) is the report that tells HMRC what you paid each employee and what you deducted. We send it for you and tell you what to pay HMRC, and by when.

Workplace pensions
Do you have to enrol your staff in a workplace pension?
Yes, for eligible staff. You must enrol, and pay into a pension for, everyone aged between 22 and State Pension age who earns at least £10,000 a year and normally works in the UK.
This is called automatic enrolment, and the minimum employer contribution is 3% of the employee's qualifying earnings. We help with the payroll side: who is eligible, the contribution figures each pay run and the information your pension provider needs. You choose the provider and we work with them. Pension support is a charged service; we add it to your quote.

What do employers ask us about payroll?
Can you run payroll for directors only?
Yes. We can run a director-only payroll alongside your company's accounts and corporation tax work. You must register as an employer with HMRC even if you only employ yourself, for example as the only director of a limited company.
How often can you run payroll?
Weekly, fortnightly or monthly. We agree the schedule with you when you start, and send your report to HMRC on or before each payday.
What do you need from us before payday?
Hours worked, pay changes, bonuses, sickness, new starters and leavers. Send them by the cut-off we agree with you, so we can check the payroll and finish it on time.
When do we have to pay HMRC?
By the 22nd of the next tax month if you pay electronically, or by the 19th if you pay by post. If you usually pay less than £1,500 a month, you may be able to pay quarterly instead. We tell you the amount each time.
Do you handle workplace pensions?
Yes. We help with the payroll information and the contribution figures that automatic enrolment needs, and we work with the pension provider you choose. Pension support is a charged service; we add it to your quote.
Do you prepare P11Ds for benefits and expenses?
Yes. We review taxable benefits and expenses and prepare P11D and P11D(b) forms, which are due by 6 July after the tax year ends. It is a charged service; we add it to your quote. From April 2027, HMRC plans to make employers report company cars, vans, fuel and medical benefits through payroll instead.
Can you set up PAYE for a new employer?
Yes. We register you as an employer with HMRC and set up your payroll records, as a charged service that we add to your quote. You must register before your first payday, and you cannot register more than 2 months before you start paying people.
How much do you charge for payroll?
Payroll on its own is always quoted: tell us how many people you pay and how often, and we'll give you a price. If we also do your accounts, our packages for businesses with employees include monthly payroll, from £80 a month + VAT with one employee. Each employee after the first adds £5 a month + VAT.
