What we do
What does a partnership accountant do for you?
We register the partnership with HMRC, prepare its annual accounts and work out each partner's share of the profit. Two partners' Self Assessment tax returns are included in the price.
We also prepare the Partnership Tax Return. It is a service we provide and quote for. Through the year you get cloud software, regular reports and one accountant who knows the whole business.
Partnership registration
Included: we register the partnership and each partner with HMRC for you.
Year end accounts
One set of year end accounts for the business.
Partners' tax returns
Profit shares worked out and two partners' Self Assessment tax returns prepared. Each further partner's return costs extra, and we quote for it.
Simple software
Cloud accounting software every partner can see: QuickBooks, Xero or FreeAgent. QuickBooks is our preferred choice.
Reports and feedback
Figures you can read, with a conversation about what they mean for the business.
A dedicated accountant
One person for the whole partnership, who picks up when any of you has a question.
Deadlines
What does a business partnership have to file with HMRC?
A partnership files one Partnership Tax Return each year, sent by the nominated partner. Each partner also files their own Self Assessment tax return and pays tax on their share of the profit.
Both are due online by 31 January: 31 January 2027 for the 2025/26 tax year.

Correct as at 5 October 2026.
The nominated partner is the person the partnership chooses to deal with HMRC. If the partnership return is late, HMRC can charge every partner a penalty, not only the nominated one. That's why we chase the deadline for all of you.
The partnership itself doesn't pay Income Tax. Each partner pays tax on their share of the profit. We prepare the Partnership Tax Return for you. It is a charged service that we quote for. For a limited liability partnership (LLP) it is included in the price.
Making Tax Digital
Does Making Tax Digital apply to partnerships in 2026/27?
Not yet for Income Tax. As at 5 October 2026, HMRC has not set a date for partnerships to join Making Tax Digital for Income Tax.
A partner whose own sole trader and rental income, before expenses, was over £50,000 in 2024/25 must use it for that income from 6 April 2026. The limit falls to £30,000 from 6 April 2027.
Making Tax Digital is HMRC's rule that you keep digital records and file through approved software. It already applies to VAT, so a VAT-registered partnership files its VAT returns that way now. We keep partnerships on compatible software so you're ready when the Income Tax date is announced.

How do you set up a business partnership?
You choose a name, choose a nominated partner and register the partnership with HMRC. Every partner must also register for Self Assessment.
We do the registrations for you as part of your monthly price. A written partnership agreement isn't required by law, but it sets out profit shares and what happens if a partner leaves.

We're accountants, not solicitors, so we don't draft partnership agreements. We can tell you which financial points yours should cover.
Limited liability partnerships (LLPs) can get a quote too, from £80 a month + VAT. An LLP also files accounts at Companies House.

Questions
What do business partners ask us before they sign up?
Does a partnership need its own tax return?
Yes. The nominated partner files one Partnership Tax Return a year, and each partner also files their own Self Assessment tax return. We prepare the Partnership Tax Return as a charged service that we quote for. Two partners' Self Assessment tax returns are included in the partnership price, and each further partner's return costs extra.
When is the partnership tax return due?
31 January for online returns. The 2025/26 return is due by 31 January 2027 and the 2026/27 return by 31 January 2028.
Can you register our partnership with HMRC?
Yes. We register the partnership and each partner for Self Assessment. It is included in the monthly price.
Do we need a partnership agreement?
No, the law doesn't require one. We recommend having a solicitor draw one up, because without it profits are normally shared equally and a partner leaving can end the partnership.
Does the partnership pay tax itself?
No. Each partner pays tax on their own share of the profit.
Should we become a limited company instead?
It depends on your profits and how you want to share them. We run the figures for both so you can decide with the facts in front of you.
Do we need to be on the Wirral?
No. We're based in Bromborough and work with partnerships across the UK by phone, Zoom, WhatsApp and our client app.
How much does a partnership accountant cost?
From £70 a month + VAT for a partnership and from £80 a month + VAT for an LLP, or from £120 and £130 if VAT registered. Prices are indicative and subject to turnover not exceeding £150,000. The Partnership Tax Return is quoted separately for partnerships and included for LLPs. See all our prices.
