What do people ask us about Apron?
What is Apron?
Software for capturing receipts and invoices and paying suppliers, made by Apron Payments Ltd. We use it for AI receipt capture: you upload a receipt, and Apron's AI picks out the details for your bookkeeping.
Is Apron included in your monthly price?
For four packages, AI receipt capture software is listed in what they cover: limited company, sole trader, partnership and LLP. For landlord and personal tax return packages, ask us. Paying suppliers through Apron is Apron's own service, with its own pricing. Our team confirms what your price covers when we quote.
How do I send a receipt to Apron?
Photograph it in the Apron app, share it on WhatsApp, forward it by email, or drag and drop it in from your computer. Apron's AI then picks out the details, ready for review.
Do I still need to keep paper receipts?
Often not. HMRC's guidance says a full, clear copy of a receipt, including anything on the back, can stand in for the paper, as long as you can still produce it in a readable form later. A few documents must be kept as originals, such as CIS payment and deduction statements, so ask us before you throw anything away.
How long do I need to keep my receipts?
At least 5 years after the 31 January filing deadline for that tax year, if you're a sole trader or a partner. A limited company keeps its records for 6 years from the end of the financial year they relate to, and sometimes longer.
Does Apron work with my accounting software?
Apron says it connects with Xero and QuickBooks Online, and lists FreeAgent as coming soon. We work in QuickBooks, Xero and FreeAgent, so ask us how Apron fits with the software you use.
Is my data safe with Apron?
Apron says it follows industry-standard security practice and is ISO 27001 certified, and it sets out the detail on its security page. Apron Payments Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority as an electronic money institution.
Do I need to be on the Wirral?
No. We're based in Bromborough and work with clients across the UK by phone, Zoom, WhatsApp and our client app.
