Full bookkeeping, or a review
Catch-up for any period
Two ways to work
Do you do my bookkeeping, or do I?
Either. We can do the full bookkeeping for you, or you can keep the books yourself and have us review them.
We do your bookkeeping
We keep your records and reconcile your bank, on a schedule that suits your business.
Bank reconciliation
All your bookkeeping records
Weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually
You do it, we review it
You keep your own books in your software, and we review them for peace of mind.

In QuickBooks, Xero or FreeAgent
Behind with your books?
We offer catch-up bookkeeping. If your records have fallen behind, we bring them up to date for whatever period you need.
Software and receipts
Which bookkeeping software do you use?
We work in QuickBooks, Xero and FreeAgent, and we use Apron for AI receipt capture.
Cloud bookkeeping software
We work in QuickBooks, Xero and FreeAgent. QuickBooks is our preferred choice.
Receipt capture with Apron
Photograph a receipt on your phone and upload it with Apron. No more keeping paper in a shoebox.
Software in our packages
Our limited company, sole trader, partnership and LLP packages come with cloud bookkeeping software and AI receipt capture software.
Set-up and training
A service we provide: we set up your software, move you over from your old system and show you how to use it. Ask us to add it to your quote.
Records ready for year end
With your income and costs recorded through the year, we prepare your year end accounts from the same records.
Making Tax Digital records
The software we use is compatible with Making Tax Digital, so your records are kept in the digital form HMRC asks for.
The rules
How long do you have to keep business records?
Sole traders and partners must keep business records for at least 5 years after the 31 January submission deadline of the tax year they relate to. Limited companies must keep accounting records for 6 years from the end of the financial year they relate to.
VAT records must be kept for at least 6 years. HMRC can ask to see your records to check you're paying the right amount of tax. If you're self-employed, that means records of all your sales and income and all your business expenses, with proof such as receipts, bank statements and sales invoices.
For example, the online tax return for the 2026/27 tax year is due by 31 January 2028, so a sole trader keeps the records for that year until at least the end of January 2033.
How long to keep your records
Sole traders and partners
At least 5 years after the 31 January deadline for that tax year
Limited companies
6 years from the end of the financial year they relate to
VAT-registered businesses
At least 6 years for VAT records
Correct as at 5 October 2026 for the 2026/27 tax year.
Making Tax Digital
Which records does Making Tax Digital say must be digital?
If you're VAT registered, you must keep digital VAT records, in software that connects to HMRC, unless you're exempt. For Income Tax, sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000 have had to keep digital records since 6 April 2026.
The threshold falls to £30,000 from 6 April 2027 and £20,000 from 6 April 2028. Under Making Tax Digital for Income Tax, you create and store a digital record of your self-employment and property income and expenses in compatible software. You still keep the original documents behind them, such as bank statements and invoices.
For sole traders and landlords, Making Tax Digital compliance support is an add-on to our packages at £35 a month + VAT. Like all our prices, that is indicative and our team confirms the scope and final price.
