What does a limited company accountant do for you?
We take care of what your company must file: annual accounts for Companies House, and the Company Tax Return and corporation tax calculation for HMRC. We also provide company secretarial services, run payroll, file VAT returns, keep your books and help directors with their own Self Assessment tax returns. Our team confirms what your price covers when we quote.
Annual accounts
Prepared to the right standard and filed with Companies House and HMRC. We remind you before each deadline.
Corporation tax
We work out what the company owes, look for the reliefs and allowances it can claim, and file the Company Tax Return.

A service we provide: confirmation statements and changes to directors, shareholders or your registered office. Ask us to add it to your quote.

Deadlines
What does a limited company have to file each year?
Every private limited company files annual accounts and a confirmation statement with Companies House, and a Company Tax Return with HMRC. Accounts are due nine months after your year end. Corporation tax is due nine months and one day after your accounting period ends. We track every date for you.
Annual accounts
Goes to Companies House
Due 9 months after your financial year end (21 months after incorporation for your first accounts)
Corporation tax payment
Goes to HMRC
Due 9 months and 1 day after the end of your accounting period, for companies with taxable profits of up to £1.5 million
Company Tax Return
Goes to HMRC
Due 12 months after the end of your accounting period
Confirmation statement
Goes to Companies House
Due at least once every 12 months, within 14 days of the end of your review period. Directors must verify their identity with Companies House before it is filed.
Director's Self Assessment, if you need one
Goes to HMRC
Due 31 January after the tax year ends: 31 January 2028 for 2026/27
These deadlines apply to private limited companies and are correct as at 5 October 2026.
Companies House can fine a company that files its accounts late, and HMRC charges penalties and interest on late tax. Your accountant sends reminders well ahead of each date, so you have time to get us what we need.
Starting out
Can we set up a new limited company for you?
Yes. We form the company at Companies House and register it with HMRC for corporation tax, plus PAYE and VAT if you need them. Directors and people with significant control must verify their identity with Companies House, and we'll tell you exactly what you need to do for that step.
Company formation is a charged service; we will quote you.

Choosing a structure
Should you be a sole trader or a limited company?
It depends on your profit, how much you need to take out of the business, and how much risk it carries. A limited company gives you limited liability and more ways to pay yourself, but it comes with more filing. We run the numbers for both so you can decide with the facts in front of you.
Sole trader
You pay Income Tax and National Insurance on the profit of the business
Less to file each year
Limited company
The company pays corporation tax on its profits
You pay Income Tax on the salary and dividends you take
Limited liability, with more to file each year
Which costs less depends on your own figures, and it can change from year to year. We can't promise that one structure will cut your tax bill; we can show you both, side by side.

Questions
What do directors ask us before they sign up?
Do I have to use an accountant for my limited company?
No, the law doesn't require it. Directors are personally responsible for the company's accounts and tax return being right, so many choose to use one.
When are my company's accounts due?
Nine months after your financial year end for a private limited company. A new company's first accounts are due 21 months after the date it was incorporated.
When does my company pay corporation tax?
Nine months and one day after the end of your accounting period, for companies with taxable profits of up to £1.5 million. The Company Tax Return itself is due 12 months after the period ends, so the payment comes first.
Can you set up my limited company for me?
Yes. We form the company at Companies House and register it with HMRC for corporation tax, and for PAYE and VAT if you need them. Company formation is a charged service; we will quote you.
Can I switch to you part-way through my company's year?
Yes. We accept companies that switch to us part-way through their financial year. We contact your previous accountant and handle the handover for you.
Do you do my personal tax return as well?
Yes. If you take dividends or have other untaxed income you'll probably need a Self Assessment tax return, and we can prepare it alongside the company's accounts.
Which software will my company use?
QuickBooks is our preferred software, and we also work with Xero and FreeAgent. If you already use one of these, you can keep it.
Do I need to be on the Wirral?
No. We're based in Bromborough and work with companies across the UK by phone, Zoom, WhatsApp and our client app.
